Overview
Microsoft 365 Copilot is the AI layer Microsoft has integrated across the entire M365 ecosystem. Instead of switching between standalone AI tools, employees use Copilot inside the apps they already know: ask for a summary in Word, query data in Excel, or request a slide deck from a document in PowerPoint.
Copilot Chat (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) is the central AI assistant that can access internal data through Microsoft Graph — emails, files, calendar, Teams meetings — and answer questions based on the real context of your organisation. All interactions are protected within the M365 security boundary and are never used to train Microsoft models.
Copilot in Teams takes meeting notes, summarises key points and action items automatically. Copilot in Outlook categorises and summarises long email threads and drafts replies in the user's own voice. Copilot in Excel analyses trends, creates complex formulas and explains data in plain language.

We are on M365 Business Basic. Can we add Copilot?
Microsoft requires at minimum M365 Business Standard, E3 or E5 for Copilot. If you are on Basic, DZO will advise on an upgrade path combined with the Copilot add-on to optimise total cost.
Is our internal data used to train Microsoft AI models?
No. Microsoft commits that tenant data is processed within the M365 security boundary and is not used to train Copilot models.
